 Moonstone (adularia) is a relatively rare mineral of the potassium feldspar group, a type of low-temperature orthoclase . The name is given for the shining blue overflow ( iridescence ), the cause of which is the thin-lamellar structure of the mineral. The name "adular" comes from the Adula mountains in Switzerland , where the crystals of this stone were first found.
 In the moonstone, there is sometimes a "cat's eye" effect. The mineral is fragile, very sensitive to shock and compression. Crystals are prismatic, columnar or tabular. Pleochroism is absent. The absorption spectrum is not interpreted. Low bluish luminescence .
